Those of us who suffer from eczema will know that the skin irritation can, at times, seem all consuming. As well as this condition being painful, it also can cause embarrassment to those who suffer from it.
There are many ways in which you can treat eczema, from herbal remedies, to changing you diet and using prescription drugs. One way that those of us who suffer with this condition can get quick relief from the symptoms of eczema is by combining their regular prescription medicines with some home remedies.
By combining the two you are much more likely to get the relief you so desperately need from eczema and in a way that is both cost effective and easy to get hold of.
One oil that has been traditionally used to help treat eczema is coconut oil. Used in its purest from, this oil is deeply moisturising, which can help prevent the skin from cracking and prevent the irritation from spreading. You simply need to apply this oil to the affected areas to get quick relief that lasts, and unlike many prescribed treatments, this home remedy smells delicious!
Eczema can be caused from cold and harsh climates, therefore treating yourself and your skin to a moderate amount of sun exposure will help relieve the symptoms. This helps to kill many of the harmful bacteria that can cause the irritation and help it to spread. Some doctors even go as far as prescribing a few and short sessions in tanning booths to help heal the skin. Obviously too much exposure will have a detrimental effect.
Spearmint leaf juice has been used for generations to help cure eczema. This home remedy is great and easy to make! If you take the leaves from the spearmint – most of us have these growing in our herb garden – and grind in a pestle and mortar to create a paste, this can then be used directly on the affected areas or you can dilute the paste by adding water. Make sure that you use the level that is suitable for your skin. This paste will educe the swelling and sting that can be caused through eczema.
One home remedy that isn’t so widely known is camphor. To make the treatment using camphor, you need to take one tablespoon of camphor and dilute it into sandalwood. This will create a paste, that when applied directly to the skin irritation, will give instant relief from the discomfort of eczema.
My final tip for treating eczema through home remedies would be to up your vitamins! Vitamin A, B and C help ion the reproduction of skin cells which although do not reduce the outbreaks; it does help your skin to heal much quicker than usual. You can up your intake of these vitamins through eating oily fish and plenty of fresh fruit and vegetable!
